1997 Distinguished Alumni

Dr. Ben Boedeker was recognized with the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1997 for his research in tropical disease in the South Pacific, and for his exemplary and pioneering work in the field of medicine. His efforts in establishing medical training protocol during the Afghan-Russian war led to the publishing of an important training manual. Boedeker holds several patents for medical devices. He is a pioneer in the advancement of telemedicine and its use on the battlefield and in rural healthcare delivery. He is an accomplished presenter and has published a multitude of articles. He established the Harold Boedeker Alumni Scholarship in memory of his father for students from Fremont County, Wyoming who attend Casper College. Boedeker earned an A.S. from Casper College in 1973, his Bachelor of Science from Colorado State University in 1976, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 1979, his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Hawaii in 1987, and a Ph.D. in pathology from Georgetown University School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1988.
